Virtual Recruitment: New Normal

Virtual Recruitment: New Normal

Share across

“It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent. It is the one that is most adaptable to change” says Darwin, reminds us of the current scenario. The COVID-19 pandemic has left an impact on all spheres, including the process of recruitment. The traditional recruitment is now replaced by Virtual Recruitment which if used profitably, can benefit both, the employers as well as the employees.

Virtual recruitment is a hiring process that takes place remotely, using video interviews from anywhere across the globe, disabling the common mode of face to face interviews.

In a shattered global economy, this allows employees who were laid off or are unemployed, a chance to secure a job.

Features of Virtual Recruiting:

Saves Time

“Time is money” is a saying that we have been following since time immemorial. Since Virtual Recruitment removes the requirement of commuting, it saves time and allows one to attend multiple interviews in a day. More interviews further lead to more opportunities! Moreover, the employees are now free to explore the domain of freelancing, along with a regular job to develop multiple streams of income.

Comfort

According to psychology, when we are in our place of comfort, we are more likely to cut down fear and hesitation. When the element of anxiety is removed, it naturally allows us to exhibit our skills in a better way, enabling us to showcase our complete set of strengths to the recruiter. Better performance will of course, lead to better chances of landing a job!

Online Platform

The employers can use applications such as Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Cisco WebEx, Zoom, Slack etc for video meetings. However, slow responses, poor network connectivity, poor quality in video or audio can ruin the experience of virtual recruitment. Such issues should be taken care of by ensuring a strong internet connection, before starting the interview.

HCL technologies at Nagpur have hired eight hundred professionals from India. More companies such as Paytm, Citrix, retail, pharmacy, logistics, and customer services are also in the process of hiring employees through virtual recruitment.

Things keep on changing in and around the world. Unless we adapt to this new normal, we will find it difficult to survive in this largely competitive market. There are companies who used this unprecedented issue to their advantage and earned huge profits. So maybe, there is a silver lining to this pandemic after all!
